Biography

Kris was born September 29, 1960 in Fresno, Ca to John and Tina Mendes. She was raised in Riverdale, Ca where she completed her education at Riverdale Elementary School and graduated from Riverdale High School. Kris completed two semesters at West Hills College in Coalinga before meeting her future husband of 14 years, Joe Coelho, with whom she bore three children and realized her calling as a mother and homemaker. As a homemaker, she honed her culinary skills to mastery and at one point, she even worked as a chef in a highly regarded restaurant without any professional training. A devoted mother, Kris made her children the hearthstone of her life and felt that her skills would be better used to nourish her children. Kris was also highly compassionate toward animals, as she rescued and raised many dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. In 1994, she remarried to Larry Dupree, with whom she remained married to for the rest of her life. They settled in Selma, Ca in 2004 where Kris spent the rest of her days focusing on her passions: caring for her three boys, 5 dogs, and a handful of cats, and cooking. She passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Hanford, Ca.
Kris was preceded in death by her mother Tina Mendes in 2007.
In addition to her husband Larry, Kris is survived by her sons, Joey Coelho of Santa Maria, Mark Coelho of Fresno and John Paul Coelho and his wife Jodilyn of Selma, her father John Mendes of Riverdale, and by her sisters, Kathy Gulley Musgrave and her husband Wayne, and Karen Motley and her husband Dave all of Riverdale.

Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Riverdale. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton.
