Isabella LaMattina Service at Jay Chapel

Age 95, a native of Fresno, CA and a resident of Madera, CA for 76 years passed Sunday, February 21, 2010 at a Madera hospital. Isabella was born May 19, 1914 to Ernesto and Margherita Scelzi.  She married Amedeo La Mattina November 26 1933.  She was a baker for Perlongo's Bakery for many years. Noni was an amazing mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend to anyone who knew her. Isabella was a member of the Italo American Club where she was awarded "Mother of the Year" in 2000. She loved to cook and her kitchen always smelled of something good. She also loved the ocean, flowers, humming birds, dancing and going places including a trip to Italy. Noni loved bright pretty colors, red was her favorite and most of all, Noni loved her family and friends. She was always there no matter what.

Isabella was preceded in death by her husband, Amedeo; her parents Ernesto and Margherita Scelzi; 4 brothers: Louis, Jack, Mike & Vincent; 2 sisters: Nanette and Frances; 2 grandsons: Sammy & Danny La Mattina and 1 great-grandson: Baby Sammy.

She is survived by 2 sons: Leon "Sonny" La Mattina of Madera, CA and Ernie La Mattina of Missouri. 2 daughters: Emily La Mattina & Michele La Mattina both of Madera, CA. 2 brothers: Alex Scelzi & Ernest Scelzi both of Fresno, CA. 2 sisters: Josie Welch & Margaret Baker both of Fresno, CA. She was the grandmother of 11, great grandmother 25 and great-great-grandmother of 13 and had numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10 AM at Jay Chapel in Madera. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.
