Biography

Charles, 86, was born on September 17, 1923 in Alpharetta, Georgia and went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2010. He was a longtime resident of Madera County. In 1935, his family moved to California. He was a graduate of Madera High School Class of 1941 and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Charles, along with his father, William C. and brother, Everett, were longtime ranchers and dairymen in the Dixieland area until 1974. Charles continued working in farming with his longtime and dear friend, John Deniz, and, in later years, did seasonal work for Deniz Packing overseeing fruit sales. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Eagles Lodge in Madera.

He was a loving father, papa and friend. Charles enjoyed his family, spectator sports, playing cards, particularly pedro, and making pomegranate jelly. He also took a special interest in his son, Mike's business, Speeda Sound, and often traveled with him and helped by driving the equipment trucks.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann; his parents Bill and Lois, brother, Everett and sister, Marian Oliver.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet King and Michael and Jeannie King, and daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Al Bianchi. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Lori Dellanini and her husband Richard; Tamara, Irvin, Jennifer, Shelby and Matthew King; six great-granddaughters, Jessica and Julianna Irvin, Brittany, Serena, Rachel and Lindsay Dellanini; sisters-in-law, Jackie King & Imogene Davis; niece Mary Lou Emmert and husband, Doc, nephew Richard Oliver and wife, Lindy, niece, Cynthia Poplin and husband Robert, and companion, Jeannette Church.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera with entombment to follow at Arbor Vitae Mausoleum.
