Biography
Age 80, a native of Trousdale, OK and a resident of Madera, CA for 64 years passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at a Madera hospital. He was a laborer. Freddie was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Lodell Parris and Marie Clark.
Freddie is survived by his wife of 59 years Cleota F. Kates of Madera, CA. 2 sons: Freddie Kates of Madera, CA and Gary Dean Kates and his wife Jan of Hoquiam, WA. 1 daughter: Shirley D. Kates of Madera, CA. He was the brother to Harvey Lee Kates and Virginia "Curly" Brooks both of Oklahoma.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 16, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel. Interment will follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
