Biography
Quirino Roman Luna
October 7, 1934- January 11, 2012
Quirino Roman Luna was born to Quirino and Susana Luna. He was the eldest of six children and a lifelong Madera resident. He married his loving wife Rachel on July 10, 1954. They had nine daughters Romana, Rachel Ann, Virginia, Marie, Carolyn, Lorraine, Leonora, Catherine, Lucretia; 16 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was an elder in the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band (California Mission Indians). He took great pride in his heritage and taught his daughters to be proud of being Native American.
After many years as a migrant farm worker he instilled in us the pride of hard work and the importance of seeking a higher education. He graduated from Fresno City College with a degree in carpentry and was a member of the 701 Carpenter's Union as a journeyman in Fresno for many years. He took great pride in everything he built from the china closet he made for our mother to working on many homes and commercial buildings in the valley.
Our Papa was a loving and caring father who always put his children first. Even during his illness he was still protecting us. Although our hearts are broken our faith reminds us that his life has just begun. He is now re-united with his beloved wife Rachel and daughter Carolyn. He will now be able to sing, dance, and walk with our Mama. We love you Papa!
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Jay Chapel in Madera.
