Biography
Adriana Agnes Volpe passed away on January 23, 2012, from a short illness that brought about many complications. Adriana was born in Lake Village, Arkansas on March 2, 1923, to Angelo and Virginia Bassotti, Italian immigrants from the Senigallia, Ancona area, off the Adriatic coast of Italy. She moved back to Italy for a brief time, with her parents until the family returned the following year, to the US.
She moved from the South, in her late teens, to Bridgeport Connecticut, for an urban life style experience, with very close family friends from the same area of the Marche region of Italy. She loved this time of her life and spoke about it often throughout her life. Several years later, she rejoined her parents and sister, in Madera, in approximately 1949.
She was employed with Pacific Bell in Madera, for several years, and then joined the Fresno location as a supervisor, until her retirement, of 25 years of service.
Once she retired, she became very involved throughout the years with St. Joachim's Catholic Church organizations, as well as the Italian American Club. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, as well as a wonderful friend, to the several friends and coworkers, that she had touched their lives over the years.
Her selfless, loving nature was always appreciated and her generosity was always paramount. Her sunny, fun loving personality always included anyone who was around her, and she loved her family the most of all. This was the most apparent in 1992, when she took on the task of raisng her two minor grandchildren, who were left orphaned, after a very tragic untimely death of her son Ken.
Adriana was preceded in death, by her beloved parents, Angelo and Virginia Bassotti, brother and his spouse, Vincent and Ruth Bassotti, her beloved son and spouse, Kenneth and Cynthia Volpe, and nephew Ned Bassotti.
Adriana is survived by her husband, Louie, married 64 years, of Madera, her daughter and spouse, Louann and Nelson Farran of Calabasas, CA, her sister, Lydia Galassi, of Madera, her grandchildren, Keith Volpe of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Andrea Volpe, of Los Angeles, CA, she also 5 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family in Italy, East coast, and in Southern part of the US.
