Grace Josie Ayala of Madera, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the age of 86. Better known as Josie she was born in Santa Ana, California to Ignacio and Isabel Soria and was a lifelong resident of Madera, graduating from Madera Union High School in the Class of 1945. Josie was a dedicated employee of the former Oberti Olive Company where she retired as a seam inspector after 37 years of employment. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ayala Sr. in 1999, by a son Manuel Mesa, by a daughter Mary Lopez and by her brother Tony Soria and his wife Josie Soria.

Josie is the beloved mother of Connie Baca and her husband John of Utah, Frank Ayala Jr. and his wife Carol of Madera, Nathan Ayala, and Stefanie Schilling and her husband Keith all of Madera. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 2 to 5 PM at Jay Chapel with a Vigil Service & Rosary following at 5 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 1 PM at St. Joachim Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
