Helen Melendez

At the age of 91, Helen Melendez went home to be with the Lord and Savior on March 27, 2024. Helen’s pride and joy were her children. The love of her life and reason of being, was her husband, Luis. Her greatest love and adoration is her Savior Jesus Christ. Helen rejoiced in going to church, and reading her bible. She especially loved visiting and learning about God with Harold and Estell Peters, who she accepted as her own children.

Helen loved watching cowboy and action movies, reading, shopping and camping at New Brighton Beach in Capitola. Helen’s favorite flowers were roses, gardenias, and carnations. Well, she loved them all. Helen enjoyed collecting angels and dolls, but her heart was fullest when it came to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her husband Luis A Melendez, her 5 children, Mario, James, Mary Lou, Margaret, and Monica. Helen had 10 Grandchildren; Anitra Melendez, Cerisa Leach, Mario Melendez, Erik Jones, Garrett Green, Danielle Green, Jesse Melendez, Marisa Bargas, Jessica Wallace, Sabrina Chandler. Helen also had 7 Great-Grandchildren; Vanessa Munoz, Aryssa Munoz, Myla Bargas, Avery Leach, Maple Leach, Kalliope Bargas, Aayla Bargas. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Melendez Green.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 1 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Jay Chapel in Madera. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 2 at 1:00pm At Jay Chapel. Burial will conclude at Arbor Vitae Cemetery following the funeral service.
