Tribute

Sandra (Sandy) Marie Oberti, 81, of Madera, California, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024. Sandy was born on January 2, 1943, in Madera, California, to Adolph and Beatrice Oberti.

Sandy was born and raised in Madera, California, all her life. She graduated from Madera High School in 1960 and briefly attended Fresno State University after high school.

Sandy married Stanley Michael Mahaffey on February 22, 1961. After her father's death, Adolph Oberti, in 1990, she took over the day-to-day running of A & B Oberti Ranches. Her sons began to marry during this time, and Sandy quickly became Nannie to 5 grandchildren. She devoted time to both northern and southern California, visiting them often. In 2000 she met Kenneth Lee Heupel and married him on March 18, 2008.

Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, Nannie, and friend, Sandy touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She was a pillar of strength and support for her family, always offering guidance and wisdom.
Sandy had a passion and a gift for cooking and baking. She often had family and friends over to share her love of entertaining and to feed them some amazing dishes over the years. Sandy was known for her dinner parties, and so loved to have her home filled with laughter. She loved her grandchildren deeply and lived for their visits. Sandy was an old soul who appreciated anything from a different era. She loved thrifting and finding antique furniture throughout the Central Valley. Whether she was tending to her garden or cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, she did everything with love, dedication, and attention to detail.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Heupel; her children, Michael Adolph, Christian Sean, and Jason Andrew Mahaffey; her grandchildren, Madison, Shelby, Emma, Anthony, and Isabella; Ken’s sons, Scott Ryan and Keith Bryan Heupel; Ken’s grandchildren, Josh, Koen and Alison Heupel. Her sisters Michelle Oberti Desmond and Diane Oberti Sciocchetti of Madera, CA, and many other relatives and friends will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her other son, John Gilbert in 1965.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25th, from 3 to 7 at Jay Chapel in Madera, California. The funeral will be held at Jay Chapel in Madera, California, on April 26th at 10 a.m.
